Dr. Patrick J Rusz, owner of S & R Environmental Consulting, is involved in all of the firm's projects. He holds a Ph.D. in fisheries and wildlife from Michigan State University with dissertation on waterbird use of Eurasian water milfoil and other resources in open water systems, and an M.S. in aquatic ecology (MSU) with thesis on management of Michigan ponds. He was a charter member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, passing the national certification examination in 1979. Dr. Rusz co-authored "Managing Michigan Ponds for Sportfishing", a technical bulletin published by Michigan State University, and also co-authored several documents regarding herbicide use. He is a former assistant professor and faculty assistant to the Deans at Grand Valley State University (nine years) where he taught courses on lake management and other natural resources issues. Dr. Rusz has designed and supervised hundreds of lake, pond, stream, and wetland restoration projects in 15 different states and is certified to apply herbicides in aquatic systems, rights-of-way, and forests.
Dr. Rusz has also directed wildlife programs for 30 years for a non-profit organization that conducts fish and wildlife habitat restoration projects throughout Michigan. Dr. Rusz has designed and supervised hundreds of detailed environmental studies and restoration projects.
